The 1 PM bus tour from the Hyatt

Seattle's Best Tours runs an afternoon loop from the Hyatt Regency on Howell Street: Lake Union, Kerry Park, Seattle Center, Fremont and the Ballard Locks in three hours. Pick it for the guides, who earn the top rating of the city bus tours here, and for the drop-off at Pike Place Market.

Seattle Bus Tour with Space Needle & Fremont Troll

About this experience

This is a meet-at-the-curb tour. The bus pulls into the charter loading zone on the 8th Avenue side of the Hyatt Regency Seattle (808 Howell St) and leaves at 1:00 PM. There's no hotel pickup, and the listing says plainly it doesn't collect from airport hotels: take the light rail to Westlake Station and walk over.

The route mixes drive-bys with short stops. Pioneer Square, Pike Place Market and Chinatown-International District go by the window. You get out at Lake Union by the floating homes, at Kerry Park, at the Museum of Pop Culture beside the Space Needle, at Waterfall Garden Park and at the Ballard Locks, the longest break at 25 minutes. The Fremont Troll is listed as a pass-by, but guests report the guide letting them out for photos. At the end you choose: back to the Hyatt, the Space Needle or Pike Place Market.

The names in the reviews are Earl, Captain Ron and Avery, and they carry this tour; guests report Earl calling the seals over at the locks. Two honest points. Seattle Center is a 5-minute photo break; you don't go up the Needle, and MoPOP admission isn't included either. And apart from the locks, stops run 5 to 8 minutes, so one guest found it more neighborhoods than highlights. Want Pike Place as a proper lunch stop? The 3 Hour Seattle City Tour gives you more time there.

  • 1:00 PM start, so you keep the morning for the market or a museum
  • 25 minutes at the Ballard Locks fish ladder and boat locks
  • Kerry Park lookout and the Lake Union floating homes
  • Drop-off at the Hyatt, the Space Needle or Pike Place Market
  • Bottled water on board, 20 guests at most
  • Discount for military veterans, per the listing

What guests say

★★★★★

100% recommend this tour. The tour guide was very informative about Seattle. He let us out by the floating houses, the troll, the locks and the space needle to take pictures and just walk around. The highlight of this tour for me was seeing the seals on the locks.

Captain Ron was great! This tour was so good as it gives you a perspective on where everything is. We got great photo ops! [...] It was great to be dropped off at Pikes Market.

Took his time and didn't rush at any stops. Explained the salmon runs from the seawater to fresh water at the locks, and the operation of the boat locks that we got to watch [...]

  • Ask for the Pike Place Market drop-off and stay on for dinner.
  • Want to go up the Space Needle? Book a slot for after the tour and take the Space Needle drop-off. Our Space Needle guide has prices and hours.
