Welcome to Seattle on foot

A local guide walks you about 2.5 miles from Pioneer Square through Chinatown-International District, the Central Library and Pike Place Market, then you ride the monorail to Seattle Center. Pick it if you'd rather see the city at street level and finish next to the Space Needle with time to spare.

Welcome to Seattle Walk with Monorail Ride

About this experience

Wander Northwest starts in front of the Pioneer Building at 100 Yesler Way and moves at walking pace through the city's history: Pioneer Square and Occidental Park, Waterfall Garden Park, King Street Station, Chinatown-International District and Hing Hay Park, the Great Hall of Union Station, 20 minutes inside the Central Library, then Pike Place Market. From Westlake Center you ride the Seattle Center Monorail to the 1962 World's Fair grounds. It ends at the KEXP radio studios on 1st Ave N.

The reviews keep naming one guide, James, whom one guest calls the owner. The rating sits at a perfect 5.0. Groups top out at 15, and guests report the guide adapting on the go: shade stops, restroom breaks and shelter under overhangs when it rains.

Be honest with yourself about the walking. The listing asks for moderate fitness, and the route has some uphill. Most guests found it easy, including one group of mostly 70-plus walkers; a 71-year-old reviewer found the hills hard. Snacks aren't included. If you'd rather sit, the Premier 3-Hour City Tour covers more ground by mini coach.

What guests say

★★★★★

We covered a lot of ground but at a comfortable pace. [...] The tour ended moments from the Space Needle after a one mile monorail ride, included in tbe tour price. We chose to head over to Chihuly Gardens, next door after the tour which was wonderful as well.

James was fantastic! It’s about 2.5 miles of walking but it’s not challenging walking. Most of the ppl on our tour were 70+ and had little/no issue with the walk.

This tour gave us a good overview of some of the major parts and history of the city. Even though it was raining he was aware of stopping at places with overhangs to get out of the rain a bit.

Started the tour knowing very little about Seattle. Left with such knowledge of the city. This really helped us navigate the city for the remainder of our stay.
